Not just for a day...
A dog is going to be a part of your family for many years, up to 20.
That means if you buy a puppy for your eight year old child, you must take into consideration that the dog could well be still in your family when the child is a young adult.
Before you get a dog, do some research on the breed. This dog could (and should) take up several hours each day in your life.
Just the basics, feeding, exercising and grooming for instance - that’s about an hour, do you have an hour at least every day to devote to your new friend?
Then there’s ongoing training and occasional issues like health care that also take time in your life, and remember all these things will also cost money.
